SIXERS ANNOUNCE UTAH JAZZ SUMMER LEAGUE ROSTER AND SCHEDULE
NO. 1 OVERALL PICK MARKELLE FULTZ AS WELL AS LUWAWU-CABARROT AND POYTHRESS TO PARTICIPATE
PHILADELPHIA, PA – JULY 1, 2017 – The Philadelphia 76ers announced today the team’s roster and schedule for the Utah Jazz Summer League. The Sixers will play three games in Salt Lake City between July 3-6 and practice each day during that timeframe.
The Sixers roster is headlined by the first overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, former Washington guard Markelle Fultz. This past season, Fultz was just the second NCAA freshman to average 23 points, five rebounds and five assists per game since 1992-93. Fultz is joined by guard-forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, forward Alex Poythress and 36th overall pick Jonah Bolden.
Luwawu-Cabarrot finished a promising 2016-17 campaign with the Sixers averaging six points and two rebounds while shooting 85 percent from the free-throw line. He averaged 17 minutes per game in 69 appearances with 19 starts. Poythress joined the team on April 11, and in six games (one start), the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 11 points and five rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field. The Australia native Bolden most recently played with FMP Beograd (Serbia).
Notable undrafted free agents on the Sixers’ Utah Jazz Summer League roster include guards Isaiah Briscoe (Kentucky) and Melo Trimble (Maryland). Briscoe played two seasons with the Wildcats, posting 11 points, five rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes per game over 70 contests; Trimble spent two seasons as a Terrapin, averaging 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 33 minutes per game over 104 appearances.
