Preview: Kings (31-49) vs Suns (24-57)

Tonight, the Sacramento Kings step onto the Golden 1 Center court for one last time during the 2016-17 season. Their opponent? A young Phoenix Suns team anchored by the talented Devin Booker.

The Suns season ends tonight in Sacramento. With a victory, Phoenix can conclude the year matching a season-long three-game winning streak. Their last game out, the Suns toppled the Mavs, 124-111, thanks to T.J. Warren’s 21 points on a perfect 8-of-8 from the field. Since All-Star Weekend, Warren is one of just five players in the League averaging better than 15 points a game while shooting over 55 percent.

Last time out, Sacramento fell in a barn burner to the Houston Rockets, losing 135-128 on Sunday. Skal Labissiere led the way, finishing with 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Ben McLemore and Ty Lawson also had impressive games. McLemore scored 18 points off the Kings bench while Lawson, who started for the 24th time this season, recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 assists.

Key Matchup

The battle between Buddy Hield and Booker, two of the NBA’s rising talents at shooting guard, will be one to watch. Since joining the Kings, Hield has been a bright spot, averaging roughly 14 points per game while shooting over 40 percent from three-point distance. Booker, meanwhile, is shattering records in just his second year in the NBA. Most notably, the former Kentucky Wildcat became the youngest player in League history to score 70 points when he accomplished the feat against the Boston Celtics on March 24.

In 10 starts this year, Labissiere is averaging 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting a stellar 51.6 percent from the field.
