Pelicans-Nuggets Postgame Quotes 4-7-17

Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry:
On what he took away from tonight’s game:
“I didn’t think we started the game exactly how we should from an energy standpoint but I thought we did get focused and got back in the game. We didn’t shoot the ball well at all and I didn’t think we moved the ball like we did the last time we were here. I think you have to get those guys on the move
and we didn’t do that. Most of our shots came after one or two passes and I think you have to take the ball from side to side, that’s what we did the last time we were here. Overall I thought we were trying to look at certain guys and give guys some time on the floor. Obviously, as I said, I’m not going to play Anthony [Davis] 35 or 40 minutes in these games but he does want to play and he does want to be on the floor, so we tried to play him and let him get his rhythm and then we wanted to take a look at other guys.”

On the play of other guys:
“I think we have to do a better job in those situations when we’re out there; it’s a learning thing for some of the guys that we’re looking at and I think they have to try to follow game plans and move the basketball and do things like that because you want to win every game but obviously they got
separation and when they get separation, when you go in the game you still have to try to follow game plans and do exactly what is asked of you.”

On E’Twaun Moore and his injury and status:
“I don’t have one on him but that’s kind of what it is so we’ll see. Obviously he’ll get treatment tonight and tomorrow and we’ll how it is as far as him being able to go.”

Pelicans Center Anthony Davis:
On how he’s feeling and if he is ready to go tomorrow night:
“We’ll see. My knee is a little sore, the one I had surgery on, so we’ll see how I feel tomorrow. We have to wait until tomorrow and get some treatment on it and see how I feel so I’m not sure yet.”

On how he felt tonight:
“I felt fine. I don’t know if it was just because it was cold in the arena all night, I never really got loose and that bothered my knee. We’ll see tomorrow and depending on how I feel around game time. The minutes were fine and I felt fine.”

Pelicans Guard Jordan Crawford:
On Cheick Diallo:
“It’s hard to not play and finally get out there and find your rhythm so he did a good job; Quinn Cook also did a good job picking his spots and getting people involved. It’s good to see that they’re aggressive. It lets them know they belong in this league, proud of them.”

On what changed in the second half:
“Missed a lot of assignments, I know [I] didn’t pull in as well as I think I should have and they got a lot of easy baskets and found their rhythm. It’s kind of hard to stop them once you let them get some easy ones so we have to do a better job of making them feel us a little more and making it hard on them.”
