With only two games left in his rookie year, Brandon Ingram decided it wasn’t too late for the defining highlight of his first NBA season.
Late in the Tuesday’s win over New Orleans, the 19-year-old used a high screen and his lengthy strides to create separation from his defender and build up some steam on his way to the hoop.
Fellow rookie Cheick Diallo was the Pelicans’ last line of defense, but Ingram wasn’t about to be stopped. Instead, he went over the power forward for a one-handed, tomahawk slam that sent the sold-out Staples Center crowd into hysterics.
Ingram — who had 15 points and six assists in his team’s home finale — was also fouled on the play and cooly hit the and-1 free throw.
