Game night from Cleveland

Bulls (2-2) at Cavaliers (0-3). 7PM CT. TV:ESPN
Radio WLS 890AM. Chuck Swirsky- Bill Wennington

Bulls injury report. Out:
Kris Dunn – NWT (left index finger dislocation)
Zach LaVine – NWT (ACL)
Cameron Payne – NWT (right foot)
Quincy Pondexter – NWT (left hamstring)

Last game: Bulls fell to New Orleans 108-95. Denzel Valentine off the bench with a game high 15. The Bulls took a robust 41- 3pt fg attempts. Jerian Grant played 22 min and had an under the radar solid game of 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists. He’s had a good camp.

Cavaliers lost at Washington 102-94. James, Wade, Love, Rose, Thompson, Crowder and Smith did not play. Iman Shumpert sprained his left foot last week and did not see action against the Wizards. Isaiah Thomas is out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his right hip. LeBron will give it a go tonight against the Bulls after rehabbing his injured ankle.

Cavs starting lineup: Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Jae Crowder, Kevin Love.

Key stats: The Bulls, giving up 109 points per game, need to get back on defense. Expect Tyronn Lue to play his regulars in the 25-30 minute zone.

>strong>Rose: 2 games averaging 14 minutes per game 63%fg (2-2 3s)- 11ppg 3 assists

Wade: 2 games: Avg 18 min. 13ppg 61%fg.

What I’m looking for…..Paul Zipser to have a solid game, stay out of foul trouble and play more consistently.

INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM: Veteran Robin Lopez on the Cavaliers blockbuster deal with Boston and the acquisition of Dwyane Wade:

“It’s going to be interesting. They made some smart pickups. They went to the Finals last year and it’s going to be competitive..It was a pleasure playing with him (Wade). Such a smart player, a great player but beyond all that he was a great teammate. I loved playing with the guy.”

Will the Cavs miss Kyrie Irving? Absolutely, but new GM Koby Altman got a ton back in return allowing the Cavaliers to remain one of the premier clubs in the NBA in their present form with an eye toward the future securing Boston’s pick via Brooklyn.

Former Bulls now Cavs: Calderon (traded to Bulls from NY then sent to Lakers) Korver, Rose, Smith (traded by New Orleans to the Bulls- two weeks later swapped to Denver.)

MVP anyone? With the acquisition of Rose, every MVP winner from 2009-16 is either on the Cavs or Warriors.

NBA thoughts….No doubt there were injury protection provisions included but the 76ers had to lock up Joel Embiid. The numbers..a reported 5 years 148 million dollars. Next season he’ll be the third highest paid center in the NBA behind Hassan Whiteside and Andre Drummond.

As first reported by The Vertical….Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo underwent surgery on his sports hernia and will miss 4-6 weeks.

A CCI tip of the hat to Michael Jordan who is donating 7 million dollars to launch medical clinics to help at risk communities in the Charlotte area.

Just saying…..Now that former NBA player and coach Derek Fisher has been eliminated from “Dancing With The Stars” when will the show’s producers place a call to Bill Wennington, Stacey King or Neil Funk?

Always a pleasure. Drop me your thoughts on the Bulls/NBA at cswirsky@bulls.com
